Rusafa is a project of Medium Voltage (MV) substations supply enabling to produce electricity for Rusafa, in the Eastern part of Bagdad city. The project is financed by the Ministry of Electricity in Iraq, who awarded the MV package to Al Samama Trading Group.
The project’s challenge consists in providing a total of 8 complete substations composed of 168 11KV MV cubicles (AIS type) and 16 33KV cubicles (GIS type). Factory Acceptance Tests required a specific layout at our production site in order to put in place all the 168 MV 11KV AIS cubicles, within 5 months from the date of schematics’ validation.
This project being the first COMECA MV project, our teams had to prepare their industrial tooling in a very short timeframe in order to meet the deadlines and quality levels imposed by the customer.
Teams have carried out operational tests substation by substation as well as specific dielectric tests in complete safety in the presence of the client. A secondary injection test has been performed on each cell, with a dedicated report being produced with OMICRON injection tools.
For the project implementation, Al Samama Trading Group entrusted COMECA with the 11KV studies, the cabling of Low voltage boxes, the assembly and testing.
COMECA has also taken charge of the manufacturing of LV distribution boards and Main distribution frames. The studies for the 33KV part have been undertaken in partnership with SIEMENS.
COMECA supplied the equipment for 8 substations, more specifically:
